This envelope contains a glass oval portrait of a woman in a large black dress seated in a red plush chair at a red-draped table. The portrait is in a soft velveteen frame, the back of which reads "Miss Evelyn Wolcott." It seems likely that Miss Wolcott was the donor, not the subject of this portrait.

Charles and Frank Wolcott were partners in the Monarch Consolidated Gold and Copper Mining and Smelting Company. Their business interests extended to the establishment of a sawmill and a box factory.
